Tennis triumph

Read about Putteridge tennis success in the School News section.

Putteridge entered 2 teams into the annual Year 5 & 6 tennis tournament which was held at venue 360 on the 19th June.

Putteridge were represented by two teams - yellows and reds. The yellow team consisted of: Ella B, Eloise C, Jayden Z and Sam T, whilst the reds consisted of: Kemi S, Gabriella H, Finn J and Tom S.

Putteridge started in different groups for the group stages of the competition, with matches being played following the same format:

Boy 1 vs boy 1

Girl 1 vs girl 1

Boy 2 vs boy 2

Girl 2 vs girl 2

Boy's doubles

Girl's doubles.

A point was awarded for every game won by the school. If there was a draw in the number of games won, it would be worked out on individual points won throughout the games.

Both Putteridge teams played fantastic tennis throughout the day and both qualified for the semi-finals. Unfortunately for Putteridge, both teams were drawn against each other meaning that only one team could get through to the final.

Putteridge reds won the match and qualified for the final - they were however beaten 4 -2 by their opponents in the final.

As finalists, Putteridge reds have qualified for the Finals Tournament which is due to be held in Bedford on Friday 6th July.

Well done to both teams - there were some  brilliant team and individual performances to be very proud of !
