Commemorating 100 years since the end of World War I
During the course of the last few weeks, children at Putteridge have been creating their own tributes to the fallen. Classrooms and corridors are festooned with poppies of all sizes and designs which look fantastic (photos of these can be found on the Galleries page). Then, on Thursday 8th November, four children from Year 4 were invited to Stopsley Primary School to participate, alongside pupils from other local schools, in a joint art project. They made poppies out of plastic bottles and painted more poppies on a mural that everyone created together - it was huge by the end of the day!
Finally, at 11am on Friday 9th September, we held a minute's silence on each playground. The children respected this impeccably, standing respectfully still and proudly wearing the poppies that Y6 children had been selling throughout the week to raise money for the Royal British Legion.
We look forward to telling you how much we raised in due course (both money tins were very heavy by the end of the week though!)
