To Infinity and Beyond... (well, Leicester!)
Y5 and 6 Visit to the National Space Centre
165 children from Upper Key Stage 2 went on a trip that was literally out of this world last week when they visited the National Space Centre in Leicester. After a long coach journey we went to the planetarium for an amazing, interactive 360 degree show about our solar system. Everyone learned something new, even the teachers! Did you know for example that, when he first discovered Saturn, Galileo thought the planet had ears?
After the show we split in to groups to explore, learning about: space food and space suits; how to control the Mars rover; the impact of gravity on weight and much, much more! For many, the highlight of the day was the Rocket Science demonstration where we were able to see rockets in action and learn about how they work.
