Putteridge Primary School

New To The Area

Welcome to our School

We are a very popular and vibrant 3 form entry primary school (90 places per year group) on the Hertfordshire/Luton border. We have invested heavily to ensure that this is a quality learning environment for the children and a wonderful workplace for the whole staff.   We are continually developing our culture so that we can embed excellence at all levels.

The school is easily accessed via A505 with a No. 12 bus that stops directly outside the school gates.   Our location is close to both Inspire Sports and Stopsley Village facilities.

We are situated close to Putteridge High School and Putteridge Community Nursery is housed within the school grounds. A separate ‘Extra Care’ club also operates within the school building, offering before and after-school provision.

Philosophy & Vision

The phrase ‘... everything should be within the child’s outstretched hand....’ summarises effectively our underlying philosophy. If all children are given an achievable challenge in all their work, they will progress well.

We want all children to leave Putteridge Primary School as fully independent learners and therefore everything we do must be focused upon highly effective teaching and learning.

We can offer your child(ren):

  • A rich and stimulating curriculum
  •  Knowledgeable, dedicated and welcoming staff
  • Extremely polite and well behaved peers who are supported and nurtured by staff
  • A well-resourced school that focuses on its pupils becoming effective and empowered learners
  • A strong community ethos that is well-supported by parents

Originally built as two separate schools, Putteridge Primary School began its life in September 2011 when the Infant and Junior school amalgamated.  We are very fortunate to have large outdoor space which includes separate Foundation Stage, KS1 and KS2 playgrounds together with an extensive playing field. We are currently developing our outdoor area as part of the OPAL project (Outdoor Play and Learning).

The school building also houses a dedicated Art Room, Library and a Family Room.

What Ofsted Inspectors said about the school:  (Quotes from our last Inspection February 2019)

“A strong team of leaders who are committed to providing the best quality of education for the pupils

During the inspection, it was clear that pupils are excited about their learning

Throughout the school, pupils in every class focus intently on their activities and are willing to discuss their learning. As one pupil told the inspector, ‘Teachers think of interesting ways to make our learning fun and memorable.’

Parents agree that pupils are well looked after and happy at school. One comment from Parent View, Ofsted’s online questionnaire stated: ‘I would not hesitate to recommend this school. My children are well supported in all areas, meaning they feel happy and safe and are therefore making great progress.’

Leaders make sure that the promotion of safeguarding throughout the school has a high profile

Pupils say that they feel safe because they understand how to work and play together. Pupils understand how to stay safe in a range of situations, including online."

"All parents consider that pupils are safe at school because adults listen to their concerns and care for the children. A parent’s comment on Parent View said: ‘The staff are always approachable and find time for everyone. Members of the senior leadership team greet children daily, which I find a lovely caring touch that reflects the school ethos.’"
