School Prefects
Owing to the situation with COVID-19, we currently do not have school prefects in operation for the academic year 2020-21.
The role
- To be the first port of call for children needing some peer support on the playground
- To escort children in need of support to an appropriate member of staff on duty
- To be stationed in the KS2 building first thing in the morning to assist the leading into classes, orderly placing of lunchboxes into the racks etc.
- To be strategically placed in corridors on the route to assemblies
- To be an exemplar of positive behaviour, attitude and conduct
- To be strategically placed in corridors on the route to assemblies
- To help reinforce positive behaviour at break and lunchtimes
- To be school ‘Ambassadors’ at school functions e.g. Christmas production in KS1 – showing audience to their seats, taking the leaving collection etc.
- To be seen as a privilege and an aspirational role for Yr6 children
The role is not;
- To try and sort out disputes – if prefects spot issues they are to involve a member of staff quickly
- To be ‘on duty’ at break times and lunchtimes
